Mara Gay on Cheney’s Criticism of McCarthy: Liz Cheney Should Not Be Standing Alone Here

‘The fact that they don’t feel a need to take part in this very basic exercise of defending the Capitol and those who were there that day, should really set off alarm bells for the rest of the country’

EXCERPT:

GAY: “The Democratic Party cannot do this alone. We need a multi-party democracy, we need competition in elections and in this country. And so, as long as the Republican Party — as long as its members truly are getting away electorally with behaving this way, our democracy is in real trouble. The fact that they don’t feel a need to take part in this very basic exercise of defending the Capitol and those who were there that day should really set off alarm bells for the rest of the country. And Liz Cheney should not be standing alone here. This is kind of an all hands — this is what we call a five-alarm fire in New York for democracy. This is a real problem.”
