Randi Weingarten: ‘This Past Year Teachers Went Beyond the Call of Duty To Meet the Needs of Students’

‘I’m so grateful to each and every one of you’

EXCERPT:

WEINGARTEN: "Every day should be teacher, nurse and public employee appreciation day or week. And frankly, it feels like I said that every year. But especially this year. This year you saved us. You've kept your students engaged and fed. You've kept your patients as safe as humanly possible in a pandemic. And the services you provide from public health to public safety have kept our communities going. You are the front lines of not just the COVID-19 pandemic, but of every crisis we face. To our educators and PSRPs and support staff, you've turned on a dime over and over and over again, even when you're exhausted and scared, to help our students succeed from pre-K through higher ed. You've moved mountains to begin the process of rebuilding and recovering so that our schools are places where educators and staff want to work, where parents want to send their kids, and where students thrive.”
