CNN’s Toobin: Only Reason DOJ’s Looking at Flynn Case Is ‘Trump Didn’t Like the Result’
TOOBIN: "Can I just make one point about the Michael Flynn case? Preet just referred to it in passing. Michael Flynn pleaded guilty."
KEILAR: "That’s right."
TOOBIN: "He was represented by fine lawyers at the law firm of Covington & Burling, one of the most distinguished firms in Washington. He had what's called an allocution where the judge asks him a whole long series of questions. Are you sure you want to plead guilty? Are you pleading guilty because you are guilty? Do you understand the penalties against you? This is not some 16-year-old kid, railroaded by a judicial system that he has no support in. This is a guilty plea by an extremely knowledgeable, educated person, advised by the best lawyers in the country. And — and this is what the Department of Justice is investigating? The only reason they are investigating it is because Donald Trump didn’t like the result. That’s what’s going on here. And that’s what’s so disturbing about this."
