Bruce Klingner: North Korea ‘Trying to Pressure’ Trump to Come Back to the Table

‘We’re waiting for North Korea to do some kind of provocation’

EXCERPT:

KLINGNER: "Well, we indicated we're still willing to have negotiations. North Korea has always been the one that's closed the door on that. They not only rejected working level talks, but recently they've begun rejecting even summit talks with the President. So they're trying to pressure us to come back to the table by capitulating to their demands. So far the U.S. for the last 18 months has really gone soft on our policy. We've canceled numerous military exercises, we haven't enforced our own laws against criminal activity by North Korea in the U. S. financial system, so we've been giving diplomacy a chance but it really hasn't made any progress yet with Pyongyang."
